Cross country skiing

Usually from december to march the region of Gheorgheni is covered with snow, so in this period you have the possibility to cross country skiing. In this region the competitive cross country skiing has a decades-long tradition, several cross country skier from Gheorgheni were succesfull on national and international races. Despite all these, the cross country skiing is not so popular among the tourists arriving in this region. There aren't any roads closed to cross country skiing, but in the surroundings of Gheorgheni city there are several rarely beaten forest paths which would be perfect grounds for this sport.
